Sewing and Quilting Classes

Just as we want to preserve the memories of handmade items by labeling them, we also want to expand the community of seamstresses, quilters, and sewing enthusiasts. From Primitive to Modern and everything in between, sewing is a creative outlet and can be practical too!
 
We offer sewing classes in the Blount County and surrounding areas of Tennessee. We can meet at your location or ours! We are located near Friendsville, TN.
 
 

Private Beginner Sewing Lessons

All Sewing Classes include instruction on machine parts, which needle to use, basic fabric information, how to pick the correct thread, terminology, types of seams and when to use them, what notions are and which ones are helpful, how to line up the fabric for the correct seam allowance, practice sewing a straight line, practice sewing different types of seams, and (hopefully) the completion of a project! We can provide a potholder, cozy bowl holder, Christmas stocking, or a pin cushion as a class project.
 

Find out if you will enjoy sewing before buying a machine! $50

We provide a machine, 2 hours of one-on-one instruction and materials to make a small project. This is the perfect sewing classes for beginners who aren't sure if they want to begin or not! You do not need to do anything to prepare. You show up and by the time you leave you will have completed a small project you can take home with you. This class is designed to help you decide if sewing is your new favorite hobby! If it turns out not to be enjoyable for you, then you haven't wasted money on a machine and all the supplies first.
 

Own a sewing machine, but have not used it? $60

This class is for you! We can help you set up your machine (even if it was handed down to you from a beloved relative).
We provide up to 3 hours of one-on-one sewing instruction with completion of one sewing project. If there is something you would like to make (so long as it is beginner appropriate) we are happy to help you with that! Or we can provide a small project with all of the materials needed. If you choose your own project, you must provide all materials.
 

You have your own machine, and you have used it a few times. $40

This class can help further your sewing skills buy covering all the basics! Bring your own beginner project or we can provide one for you! Class time is 2 hours
 

Do you want to take a class with a small group of friends? $25

Any of the above classes can be turned into a group class! Class size is limited to 4. Only the people you invite are allowed to join your class. This option is also great for parents and kids!
